Informed Consent

When engaged remotely, phone or Face-to-face, the same expectations is shared about informed consent.  All information shared between Counsellor and Client will be kept strictly confidential in a secure and private place.  No information will be shared with anyone without the explicit consent of the Client. The Counsellor always has the safety of the clients and others in mind; however, in the event that the client information is mandated by regulated bodies and the law, the Counsellor has to break this confidentiality, with or without the client’s consent.

  • If at any point the safety of any individual (Client, Counsellor) is at risk, it is the counsellor’s responsibility to inform the proper services to ensure the continued safety of the individuals.
  • If throughout the session it becomes apparent that a child’s safety is in danger for any reason, the Counsellor is required to inform the appropriate children services centre as to the situation.
